Disciplinary Decisions

As a self-regulating body it is very important to CGA Nova Scotia that its members and students act in a professional, ethical and competent manner at all times.
If you feel that the service that you have received from a CGA Nova Scotia member or a Nova Scotia student in the CGA program of professional studies ("student") has been unprofessional, unethical or incompetent, you are encouraged to attempt to resolve the matter initially with the individual or firm in question. Failing this, we invite you to contact us at: 1801 Hollis Street

CGA NS Discipline Committee
The discipline committee is a standing committee of the board of governors, which establishes the discipline committee, outlines its composition and establishes its mandate. The Chair of the discipline committee must be a governor appointed by the chair of the board/president of the Association and the discipline committee must include at least one non-member governor who is appointed as a public representative.
Committee members are mainly responsible for providing a process of investigating and considering ethics complaints against current CGAs and students; to determine if they are in breach of the Association's Code of Ethics, to assess discipline alternatives where appropriate; to provide instructions to the committee’s legal counsel in relation to the conduct of discipline hearings before the professional conduct tribunal; and to determine whether a complaint is a matter of professional competence.
Discipline committee members must maintain confidentiality and avoid conflict of interest regarding all matters that they become aware of during the course of their duties as members of the discipline committee. |
